As you can see, your A and other D and G were not affected by the fact that someone in B added politics tag. Whoever replies to B, will be automatically tagged. If you had included that tag in A, all of them would be rolled up.

It's the issue with the site the links comes from and how Toshi handles it. Basically, you should see your peeps on your profile without any change and whenever someone tags it as politics, it will affect only subsequent replies to their peep, not your original. Check out this:

You're actually right. Free peeping got a lower threshold, but link preview was revoked for new users 10 days ago.
Now it's basically the same, once you earn free peepeing, you also get link previews (with the exception of Twitter/Github verification) :)
